DISRUPTIONS: The Art of Eliseo Art Silva
featured works embrace sparring ideas and intentionally disrupt the expected to bring attention to new ideas or to begin conversations.
Pinta*Dos Gallery's inaugural exhibition was held last June 24, 2017- January 6, 2018.
As an artist of over 100 public works under his name from the US east coast and west coast; and, in his own studio practice, the artist strives to bring the audience to situations to rethink and disrupt in order to energize. His signature work is the 150 ft.-long and 30 ft.- high Filipinotown Mural of LA (1994) which was recently recognized as one of the “20 Iconic Murals of Los Angeles” by LA Weekly. The new paintings featured in the show is an extension of his practice in public art which reconciles the history of his lineage with the history of painting.
Silva attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, received a BFA at Otis College of Art and Design and an MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) under the auspices of the pioneering great abstract expressionist Grace Hartigan and resident MICA art critic Dominique Nahas.
